Pellaton One-Minute Tourbillon James C. Pellaton for Ulysse Nardin, Locle, Suisse, No. 123232, case No. 647864. Made circa 1940. Exceptionally fine and important, 18K gold, keyless pocket chronometer with one-minute tourbillon regulator and Guillaume balance. Accompanied by the original leather fitted box.

C. Four-body, "bassine", solid, polished. Hinged gold cuvette. D.White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 44,8 mm (19 3/4'''), rhodium plated, Le Locle Technicum caliber with curved center bridge, narrow fausses cotes decoration, 19 jewels, three-arm equidistant Pellaton carriage with lateral Swiss calibrated lever escapement, cut anibal-brass Guillaume balance with 8 adjustments, blued steel balance spring with Phillips outer terminal curve, index regulator with gold scale plate, the pins with micrometric screw adjustment. Movement signed by Pellaton, by Nardin on dial, case and movement. Diam. 53 mm.

During the 1920's and 1930's James Casar Pellaton was the most esteemed maker of tourbillon carriages, which he supplied to the most prestigious companies, including Patek Philippe and, as this lot demonstrates, Ulysse Nardin.
