Very fine and rare, self-winding, water-resistant, center seconds, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with cloisonné polychrome enamel dial depicting the Santa Maria with an 18K yellow gold Ulysse Nardin buckle. Accompanied by a fitted box and an extract from the Archives and user manual. To be sold without reserve

C. Three-body, solid, polished, rounded bezel, stepped lugs, case back secured by 4 screws and embossed with logo, sapphire crystal. D. Satiné gold with applied yellow gold baton indexes and Roman numerals, the center with a polychrome cloisonné enamel scene of the Santa Maria. Yellow gold feuille hands. M. Cal. UN-13, gilt brass, fausses cotes and oeil-de-perdrix decoration, 21 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, micrometer regulator, hack mechanism. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 37 mm. Thickness 9 mm.

Notes

In 1492 Columbus set sail from Palos in Spain with three ships. The Nina and the Pinta were caravels; small ships with triangular sails. The third, the Santa Maria, was a nao, a larger, squarerigged ship. The ships were small, between 15 and 36 metres long. Between them they carried about 90 men.
