San Marco Chronometers. This series was produced in several limited editions in 18K yellow gold, some of 12 and others of 25 examples, each edition with different ships on the dials. They were specially made to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Ulysse Nardin, the dials enameled by Michel Vermot, Le Locle. The history of the navy, of over 50 countries in the world, has been closely associated to Ulysse Nardin for the past 100 years. Some of the most famous historical ships are represented on the "cloisonne" enamel dials of this special series of watches. The "cloisonne" enamel dial required 54 different operations: 12 kiln-processing at over 840 degrees and about 100 hours patient work for the artist. To realize 80 "cloisons", over 50 cm. of gold wire are necessary. The HMS Victory, outstanding wooden ship commissioned with 104 cannons, is one of the most famous ships in history. It was launched in 1759 and is very well-known because it was commanded by Admiral Nelson cluring the battle of Trafalgar. The HMS Victory is in Portsmouth and is the oldest boat in service in the Royal Navy.
