UNIVERSAL REF. 12253 TRI-COMPAX YELLOW GOLD Universal Genève, Tri-Compax, No. 1043524, Ref. 12253. Made in the 1960s. Fine, astronomic, 18K yellow gold, water-resistant wristwatch with square button chronograph, registers, tachometer, triple date and moon phases and a later Universal buckle.

Two-body, polished, inclined bezel, snap on case back, lapidated lugs, date adjusters in the band. Champagne with applied gold baton indexes, outer 1/5th second track, outermost tachometer scale, sunk guilloché subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers, graduation for the date around the moon phase aperture, apertures for the days of the week and the month. Luminous gold lozenge hands. Cal. 481, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self compensating Breguet balance spring, index regulator.
