In the 1920s and 1930s, the Horological School of Le Locle, Technicum neuchâtelois, was placed under the direction of Léopold Defossez (1878-1969), then, from 1926, under that of Jämes-César Pellaton (1873-1954). Eminent professors such as Robert Lavest (1890-1948) taught there.
