PICARD QUARTER-REPEATING TRIPLE CALENDAR & CHRONOGRAPH - PINK GOLD Les Fils de R. Picard, Chaux-de-Fonds, Swiss, "Répétition Chronographe 3 Quantiemes Phases Lunaires", No. 2425. Made circa 1900. Fine, very large, half-hunting-cased, keyless, quarter- repeating, 18K pink gold pocket watch with triple-date calendar, chronograph and moon phases.
Four-body, bassine, engine-turned with polished band and rims, the front cover with glazed aperture, radial black champleve Roman numerals, inner minute track, the back with applied central initial 'M' beneath a Bourbon crown on a polished reserve, olive-shaped button at 12 for the chronograph. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with prize medals and technical details. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost fifths of a second divisions with Arabic five-second numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, date and days of the week dials, apertures fort he months and moon phases. Blued steel spade hands. Cal. 22''', frosted gilt, 23 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a push-button on the band. Cuvette signed and numbered, case numbered.
