OLD MASTER STYLE PAINTED SINGING BIRD BOX Swiss. Made circa 1910. Fine and unusual, hand-painted singing bird box. Accompanied by the original fitted box.

Three-body, the sides and top hand-painted in the old master style with bird and landscape scenes after Hondecoeter and Teniers, bird cover painted with the figure of a peasant at an open window, hinged key compartment in the back, winding from the base. Singing bird movement: rectangular plates with large spring barrel, rectangular bellows, the bird with moving wings, tail and beak controlled by large cams on the base and top of the barrel, gilt brass pierced and engraved grille.
