CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL FOUR-GLASS MANTEL CLOCK French, movement No. 696 5. Made circa 1900. Rectangular bow-fronted gilt brass, champlevé enamel and beveled glass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking mantel clock with mercury compensation pendulum.

Glazed on 4 sides with beveled glass panels, molded gilt brass top, pillars and stepped base decorated with champlevé enamel, hinged front and back doors. Annular white enamel with blue Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, center and bezel decorated with champlevé enamel. Blued steel halberd hands. Circular, gilt brass, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, spring suspension, pendulum with steel rod and two glass cylinders containing mercury housed within a gilt brass and champlevé enamel cage, striking on a coiled steel gong. DIM. 26 cm. x 17.3 cm. x 14 cm.
