QUARTER-REPEATING À TOC WATCH - THE SERENADE Swiss, case No. 5349. Made circa 1790. Fine and rare, quarter-repeating à toc, 18K gold and painted on enamel pocket watch with calendar.
Two-body, bassine, polished, the back with a painted on enamel scene of a young couple serenading by a perfume burner in a landscape, royal blue and gold paillon border. Convex white enamel with Arabic numerals, outer dot minute track and Arabic fifteen-minute numerals, outer red calendar numerals 1 - 31. Pierced gold hands, steel calendar hand. 41 mm. matte gilt, full-plate, fuse and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, flat balance spring, pierced and foliate engraved continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial, repeating on the inside of the case activated by depressing the pendant.
