PINK GOLD REPETITION A QUARTS AUTOMATES Attributed to A. Lugrin, Swiss, "Répétition Automates", No. 43488. Made for the Russian market circa 1890. Fine and large, hunting-cased, keyless, quarter-repeating, 14K pink gold pocket watch with automaton jacks.
Four-body, "bassine et filets", engine-turned covers with polished borders, the front with shield-shaped cartouche with garter border, reeded band. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with the technical details, glazed gold-rimmed cover over the movement. Green translucent guilloche enamel with gold paillon radial Roman numerals, outer gold paillon dot minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, matte silver with varicolored flowers, painted on enamel female jacks in country costume striking bells at the top. Gilt Louis XV hands. Cal. 21''', matte gilt, 17 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance-spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band.
