JAPY FRERES, GARNITURE DE CHEMINEE Japy Freres, French, No. 59025. Made circa 1890. Fine and impressive, painted on porcelain and gilt-bronze, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking mantel clock with two vases en-suite.

Vase form, painted porcelain decorated in the 18th century manner with a lady being serenaded by a guitar player in a landscape, royal blue and florally gilt-painted top and base, gilt-bronze leaf and berry finial, female mask handles, beaded base with foliate scroll feet. The two matching vases similarly decorated with courting couples in 18th century dress in landscapes. Off-white with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel halberd hands. Circular plates, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, pendulum with gilt-brass bob, countwheel striking on a bell. Movement signed.
