THE SCALLOP SHELL Swiss, No. 29. Made circa 1800. Fine, 18K gold and enamel scallop shell-form pendant watch with concealed dial.

Two-body, "fermée" type, shell-shaped, spring-loaded front cover reveals the dial, both sides identically decorated with royal blue, black and green enamel, chain suspension ring. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel Breguet hands. 22 mm. hinged, gilt brass full plate with engraved decoration, going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm brass balance, single-footed cock, polished steel endplate, index regulator. DIM. 28 mm.x 30 mm.
