THE SCALLOP SHELL Swiss, No. 226. Made circa 1800. Fine, 18K gold and enamel scallop shell-form pendant watch with concealed dial.

Two-body, "fermée" type, shell-shaped, spring-loaded front cover reveals the dial, both sides identically decorated with royal blue, black and green enamel, fixed suspension ring. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions. Gold hands. 22 mm. hinged, gilt brass full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain three-arm brass balance, continental cock, polished steel endplate, index regulator. DIM. 28 mm.x 28 mm.
