QUARTER REPEATER "JUMP-HOURS" FOR THE TURKISH MARKET GOLD & ENAMEL "Répétion Breguet", Geneva, case No. 28283. Made for the Islamic market circa 1840. Very fine and extremely rare, large and thin 18K gold and painted on enamel quarter-repeating, jump-hour pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement.

Four-body, "bassine", the back finely painted with a floral love trophy en grisaille, white champlevé flowers and gold foliage on broad bezels against a black enamel ground, band, pendant and bow with repeated pattern of black and white enamel. Hinged gold cuvette. Jump-hour aperture at the top with Islamic numerals, silver eccentric engine-turned minute chapter, subsidiary sunk seconds. Blued steel Breguet hand. 41 mm. frosted gilt, 9 jewels, ruby cylinder escapement, gilt 3-arm balance, flat balance spring with temperature compensation curb, parachute suspension, repeating on gongs by pull-and-twist piston in the pendant.
