CHATELAIN QUARTER REPEATER GOLD, ENAMEL & DIAMONDS (François-Charles) Chatelain à Paris, No. 341. Made circa 1780. Very fine and rare, quarter-repeating, gold, enamel and rose-cut diamond-set pocket watch.

Two-body, "Louis XVI", the bezel set with rose-cut diamonds within a chased gold leaf and berry border highlighted with translucent green and red enamel, the pendant set with a large diamond, the bow further set with diamonds, the back decorated with translucent royal blue enamel with an applied diamond-set lattice, outer border decorated to match the bezel. White enamel with radial Arabic numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five-minute numerals. Rose-cut diamond- set fleur-de-lis hands. 34.5 mm., matte gilt full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant.
