QUARTER-REPEATING DIANA & APOLLO JACQUEMART AUTOMATON GOLD Swiss, case No. 12857, retailed by Ls. Bergmille à Paris. Made circa 1820. Fine and rare, gold, half skeletonised quarter repeating pocket watch with automaton Jacks of Diana and Apollo.

Three body, Empire, engine-turned with polished bezels, flat band, bolt at 11 to lock the repeating. Hinged and sprung gilt cuvette fitted to the movement ring. Annular white enamel chapter-ring with Arabic numerals, skeletonized with vari-colored gold "jacks" of Diana & Apollo appearing to strike bells when the repeating is activated. Blued steel Breguet hands. GiIt brass full plate, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain 3-arm gilt balance, engraved continental clock, polished under dial repeating work striking with two hammers on two blued steel gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Cuvette signed by the retailer.
