MUSICAL BOX, ENAMEL BY RICHTER Swiss, musical movement, No. 4448, enamel by Richter, Geneva, circa 1820. Spectacular and very fine 18K varicolored gold and painted on enamel, large musical box. Accompanied by a winding key.

Three-body, circular, top painted on enamel with Alpine scene; villagers going to the market with their animals, lady returning to her village, engine- turned side panels with applied varicolored leaf wreath at the top, canted corners with applied varicolored floral design, the base richly decorated with applied varicolored gold flowers and foliage, one gold bolt in the front for activation. 62 x 40 mm., sur-plateau with rectangular brass plates, going barrel wound with a male key, the musical disc pinned on both sides and playing with 26 tuned steel teeth, 13 on each side of the plate, four-arm governor, activated by a slide on the side of the case Box punched "GG".
