Marguerat, Charles-Armand (1887-1931) Charles-Armand Marguerat was born at Lutry, near Lausanne, but set up business in Geneva circa 1914. From 1915-1919, he styled himself as "fabricant de montres" (watchmaker), working from 9, rue de Savoie. From circa 1920 until his death in 1931, he moved in another part of Geneva, to 18, Avenue de la Gare des Eaux-Vives, where he advertised the "Manufacture d'oiseaux chantants". He is noted for rectangular boxes with a small round timepiece mounted on two pillars above the box. The clock mechanism can be set to trigger the bird box in the same way as an alarm, or the box may be played independently.He is then in Geneva, one of the last active singing-bird makers. The factories Patek Philippe as Vacheron Constantin buy from time to time its mechanical to incorporate them into their own products; A... which proves the quality of his work!
