18K yellow gold and enamel, horizontal rectangular-shaped "étui à messages" or "billet-doux" with enamelled and pailloné décor. The case contains an old paper written with pen mentioning "Donné à Mme Raymond / (mère de Mme Emmeline Raymond) / par Mme Adélaïde / à Mayence pendant / l'émigration."; that to say offered in Mainz (Germany) by Adelaïde de France (1732-1800), fourth daughter and sixth child of Louis XV and Marie LeszczyÅ?ska; and aunt of Louis XVI.
