Notes

StaubbachFalls
With a fall height of almost 300 metres, the Staubbach Falls (also Staubbachfall or Staubbachfälle in German) in the Lauterbrunnen valley is one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe and the third highest in Switzerland. In summer, warm winds swirl the drops of water that scatter in all directions. These dust-like sprays of fine droplets have given the torrent and the waterfall its name.
It is said to have inspired Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) to write his poem “Gesang der Geister über den Wassern” (Spirit Song Over the Waters).
