GRANDE SONNERIE GIANT CARRIAGE

A very fine and rare, large and heavy, gilt brass carriage clock, with grande sonnerie, detent escapement, day, date and alarm.
The gilt bronze case of rectangular section almost all surfaces engraved with profuse foliate scrolls and flowers. Glazed sides and back door, the top glazed to view the escapement.
Enamel dial signed ‘’Berrolla ainè, rue de la tour 2’’ with Roman numeral over a rectangular enamel subsidiary panel showing day, date and alarm, within the foliate engraved gilt bronze mask.
The two spring barrels for both trains (movement and striking) are also engraved, spring detent escapement, two-arm bimetallic balance with weights and two mean time adjusting screws, free sprung helical
balance spring with terminal curves, diamond end stone.
