Commemorative knife, produced on the occasion of the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower during the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889; folding steel blade; horn ribs pressed in the image of the monument; nickel silver bolster; on the first floor, an eyecup allows the dimensions of the building to be found.

This object – which evokes the monument that has embodied Paris on a global scale for more than a century – has become very rare today and is in a perfect state of preservation. Very often the eyecup is missing. The knife was most probably made in Tiers, the French cutlery capital.
