Very fine and unusual, early 18K. gold, "Adam and Eve" automaton pocket watch.
Probably made in Friedberg for the English Market.
Case with glazed back, entirely chased with allegorical figures, animals and further decoration in a Renaissance pattern.
The back plate is covered with a gold panel, finely chased with a scene depicting Adam and Eve in the terrestrial paradise, the automaton snake revolving on the border. Silver dust cap, the border of the aperture pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage.
