A very fine and extremely rare, early, gilt bronze, manual wind hexagonal tower-form clock on a wide moulded plinth. The upper section surmounted by a pierced domed cupola to allow the sound of the bell to resonate, finished with a small finial. Removable side panels engraved with a vase of flowers within scrolling foliage; the back panel matted and engraved with scrolling decoration. Two applied silver dials: one with Roman and Arabic numerals, blued steel arrow hand; the other a smaller alarm dial with blued steel hand.

Year Circa 1580-1600

Caliber Iron movement frame divided into two sections: the first housing the going train with fusee and gut, short three-wheel train, verge escapement and bob pendulum positioned in front of the dial. The second section for the striking mechanism, with a single hammer operated by a vertical side-action rod striking the bell for the hours, and the alarm train with open spring and stopwork, sounding by means of a double-ended hammer on the bell; alarm on/off switch on the top of the clock.
