VACHERON CHOSSAT ? FINE ENAMEL QUARTER REPEATING WATCH WITH ORIGINAL BOX Vacheron Chossat & Cie. à Genève, No. 6498. Made 1816-1819. Very fine and rare, 18K. gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set, quarter repeating watch. Accompanied by the original gold-tooled red morocco fitted box.
C. Four body, Empire, the back cover with a finely painted on enamel scene of boys fishing from boats on an alpine lake, pearl-set border, the band decorated with blue red and black champleve enamel in a repeated pattern, pearl-set bezel. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. D. Engine-turned and engraved gold, Arabic numerals on circular white enamel reserves, outer white enamel minute track, engine- turned center. Blued steel serpentine hands. M. 32 mm., gilt brass, skeletonized top plate, standing barrel, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, repeating on two square-section gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Signed on the dial, cuvette and back plate. DIAM. 40 mm.
