Vacheron & Constantin Genève, No. 389238, case No. 245850, made in 1920. Extremely rare 18 ct. gold and enamel keyless dress watch with engraved movement.

Three body, massive "bassine pincée", the bezels, pendant and bow with black champleve enamelled decoration, the band and the spring loaded back engraved with scrolled foliage, the coat of arms of Geneva engraved inside the back. Gold glazed cuvette. D. Two tone silver with applied gold Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds. Gold "bâtons" hands. M.17?, gilt brass, fully engraved with foliage, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Signed on the dial and case, numbered on the front plate beneath the dial. In very good condition. Diam. 46 mm.

Watches by Vacheron & Constantin with engraved movement are extremely rare. The case of this watch was specially made to exhibit such a decorated movement, therefore, the cuvette is glazed and the back is spring loaded, to be opened as the cover of a hunting case.
