Vacheron & Constantin - The Shepherdess Vacheron & Constantin, Veuve C. Vacheron & Cie, Succrs, Geneve, case No. 138207, retailed by Lequesne à Rouen. Made circa 1860. Very fine and rare, 18K gold and painted on enamel lady?s pendant watch.
C. Four-body, Louis XV, polished, the back decorated with an oval painted on enamel scene of a resting shepherdess on a rocky outcrop in an Alpine landscape, black enamel line border, outer engraved border. Hinged gold engine-turned cuvette. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minuet numerals. Gold Louis XV hands. M. 12???, matte gilt, bar caliber, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm gilt balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Movement signed, cuvette signed by the retailer. Diam. 33 mm.
