Production of Vacheron Constantin minute-repeatingwristwatches:- a total of 38 examples, in pink, yellow,white gold and platinum :- 17 examples in 1942- 9 examples in 1944- 12 examples in 1951This outstanding wristwatch was developedby Vacheron Constantin in collaborationwith Dubois-Dépraz.According to collectors and professionalsworldwide, this model is the most beautifulminute-repeating wristwatch made duringthe last half-century.The repeating device was invented andpatented by the famous English watchmakerDaniel Quare in 1690. Repeating watchesallowed their owners to tell time underdifficult conditions: at night or in a darkstreet ; they were also useful for blindpeople. Since then, most watchmakers andmanufacturers have created quarter andminute repeating watches.The first minute-repeating wristwatch everknown was made by Omega in 1885. Sincethe beginning of the century, many of themost important creators, watchmakers ormanufacturers, have produced limitededitions of minute-repeating wristwatchesfor the most sophisticated collectors in theworld.
