Notes

Hivan-Tsang A wise man and one of the founders figures of Buddhism. Legend has it that he set out, with two monkeys as compan-ions, in search of holy Buddhist texts. One of the monkeys stood on Hivan-Tsang's shoulders; the other, holding the wise man's hand, is at his feet. The agile monkey is a symbol of consciousness, which flits from one object to another.
