A 14k gold Waltham hunter pocket watch, presented by President Teddy Roosevelt in 1905 to a British ship captain for rescuing an American ship's crew. The U.S. Presidential seal is engraved on the front cover, the recipient's monogram engraved on the back cover. On inside back, covering the movement, appears the following: "From the President of the United States to William Watt, Captain of the British Steamship Athell in recognition of his humane services in affecting the rescue of the master and crew of the American Schooner ISLESBORO at sea Nov. 15, 1904." Watch runs well and is in exceptionally fine condition, inside and out. While there are examples of presidential presentation watches that come up for sale from time to time, few Roosevelt examples ever hit the market. (A similar one resides in the National Maritime Museum in London.)
