WELDON GOLD REPOUSSE WATCH - PENELOPE & THE SUITORS George Weldon, London, No. 7475. The inner case with London hallmarks for 1754-1755. Very fine and rare, repousse gold pair-cased pocket watch with calendar and outer skin-covered gilt-metal protecting case.

Outer : two-body, repousse, decorated with a scene depicting Penelope and the suitors within a rococo scroll border, bezel decorated with rococo scrolls. Inner : Two-body, bassine, polished. Gold with champleve radial Roman numerals, outer arcaded minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals, date aperture and signature cartouches in the center. Blued steel beetle and scroll hands. 35 mm., gilt full plate, square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm balance with flat spring, pierced and engraved balance clock with single foot, silvered regulation dial.
