C'est suite au séjour à Paris en 1814 d'Alexandre Ier (1777-1825), empereur de Russie (1801-1825) et roi de Pologne (1815-1825), et à sa visite dans les ateliers d'Abraham-Louis Breguet (1847-1823), ainsi que d'un déjeuner entre le tsar et le vieux maître (alors âgé de 67 ans), que ce dernier décide d'avoir un représentant permanent en Russie, en la personne de M. Wenham (probablement George), un horloger d'origine anglaise. Il y est actif pour la Maison Breguet jusque dans les années 1830.
