WINNERL MARINE CHRONOMETER Winnerl, France, No. 235. Made circa 1850. Very fine small, mahogany, 49 hour going marine Chronometer with power reserve indicator.

Double body solid mahogany, with sliding observation lid and external brass handles, brass bowl and circular gimballed suspension. Matte silver with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and Up-and-Down scale. Spotted brass full plate with cylindrical pillars secured by screws, the back plate relieved for the barrel, fusee with chain and maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, two-arm balance with cylindrical weights and timing screws. Free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves.
