Notes

This Zenith Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane “Grand Voyage II” (circa 2015) is Pièce No. 1 from an ultra exclusive limited edition of just 10 pieces ever produced.

The exhibition caseback is a breathtaking, entirely handmade masterpiece by Zenith’s master artisans. This three-dimensional bas-relief dramatically portrays Christopher Columbus’s 1492 voyage: a vibrant macaw parrot in flight, palm trees, indigenous figures (a feathered chief and a woman offering fruit), Columbus holding the Spanish royal standard with castles and lions, and the legendary caravels on the horizon — all realised through masterful hand-engraving, gold appliqué, and exquisite micro-painting. This watch is powered by the legendary manual-wind El Primero 8805 calibre with Zenith’s groundbreaking Gravity Control gyroscopic module and fusee-and-chain constant force system.

This watch earned the prestigious “Best Complicated Watch” award at the 2011 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. After five years of intensive research, the patented Gravity Control system is its crowning achievement: by keeping the regulating organ and escapement permanently horizontal, it eliminates gravity-induced errors and requires regulation in just one position. Unlike a tourbillon, which averages variations across axes every minute, Gravity Control maintains optimal orientation at all times for superior performance.
