Four body "onion" case engraved with inhabited foliage, a portrait of Cleopatra finely painted on an enamel plate set on the opening back (slightly rubbed), a fine allegorical scene on the enamel interior painted in the manner of Musard,depicting a pilgrim waking Venus, while a Cupid points the time on a clock indicating that it is always time for love. Silver champlevé dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. GiIt brass pierced hands. GiIt brass full plate French onion type movement with Egyptian pillars, fusee with a female winding hole on the dial side and chain, verge escapement with a plain brass three armed balance, a silver mock pendulum set on the rim, silver French Louis XIV pendulum cock chased with birds and scrolled foliage. Signed on the dial and the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 56 mm. Despite bearing a London signature, this is a typical Geneva watch.

A very fine gilt-metal pair-cased watch enamelled in the manner of Jean Mussard, with contemporary silver and giltmetal chatelaine and crank key. Bassine case with leaf engraved and gilt frame. Back enamelled on copper with Venus and Cupid, the border with a continuous landscape scene of figures and builings. Interior with a similiar scene painted "en camaieu" on an ochre ground. Loose-ring pendant, glazed gilt-metal double-body outer case, shagreen covered with gold pinwork decoration. White enamel dial with Roman hour chapters, Arabic five minute numerals, the centre with a landscape. GiIt "beetle" pattern hour and blued-steel "poker" minute hands. GiIt brass full plate movement with pierced Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain three arm brass balance and Louis XIV cock pierced with foliage, phoenix and dolphin heads. Signed on a silvered plaque on the backplate. In excellent condition. Dim. 58 mm. Paul Hubert, originally working in Rouen, fled to Switzerland during the persecution following the revoccation of the Edict of Nantes. This watch was quite clearly made after he took up residence in Geneva. The enamel case can be closely attributed to Jean Mussard (1681-1754), a Genevan artist who painted in a similar style to the Huaud family.

Very fine "bassine" enamelled case painted overall, the principal scene depicting Artémis, the Huntress and the Wild Boar of Calydon, linked by ribbon knots on a blue background, four landscapes are finely painted on the edge in cartouches, signature set below number 6. Fine fluvial landscape inside, on the enamel backing with a castle and a fisherman, engraved bezel and Iater gold pendant. Gold enamel dial with Roman numerals on a white chapter ring, Artémis and Apollo her brother finely painted at the center. Later blued steel single hand. Fine gilt brass full plate movement with pierced tulip pillars, fusee and chain, three wheel train, verge escapement with a three armed steel balance, short early balance spring with a rosette and rack adjustment, giIt brass cock pierced and engraved in such a way the balance spring can be seen easily, mainspring tension adjusted by a worm screw. Signed on the back plate, Huaut on the case. In very good condition. Diam. 41 mm. The creations of the Huaut' s workshop are different from others working in the same period. The brightness of the colors associated with the technique of "pointillé" give their work a perfection which can be esily identified. In this actual watch the masterly level of their art is evidenced by its outstanding condition of conservation. A similar watch is published in Tardy: Dictionnaire des Horloger s Français, page 306.
