The Castle. Chapeau, French, circa 1870. Very fine and rare eight day-going hour- and half hour-striking musical painting with clock, echo activated at 12 o'clock, six tunes playing on demand.

C. Gilt wood framed, oil on canvas, dominated by a castle by a river with a clock in its tower, two punts and a paddle steamer on the river, right bank wooded with several small buildings and a road, in the extensive background several small hamlets and castles under mountains and a cloudy sky. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute markers. Blued steel hands. M. Brass, square, with going barrels for the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, silk suspension, pendulum with brass bob. Striking on a gong with a hammer, with count wheel on the back plate. Additional brass movement for the carillon playing at 12 o'clock, striking on two gongs with two hammers, fly regulator released by main movement, 6 tune musical movement (No. 3021) with 13 cm. brass pinned cylinder, comb with 102 teeth (one broken). Dim. 164 x 126 cm., including the frame.

Extremely fine silver deck lever chronometer "EXTRA" adjusted by Master Adjuster J. Golay-Audemars for the 1913 Geneva Observatory Timing Contest, where it was awarded an “Honorable Mention”, with 36-hour power reserve indicator and Guillaume balance. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives and a copy of the Geneva Observatory records.

C. Four-body, "bassine", polished, silver hinged cuvette. D. Heavy solid silver, bold champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer champlevé minute track, champlevé up-and-down sector at 12 o'clock, champlevé subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 47 mm.
