Oval top housing the watch and the automata, pearl-set bezel, the head is fitted to the shank with runners and on its underside a shutter gives access to the winding and setting squares, the sides of the shank embossed and engraved with palm leaf decoration. A varicoloured gold couple rock on a see-saw while a small boy in the tree chops the branches above them with his axe. The tree curves aroundhe visible, diamond-set balance. Octagonal polychrome enamel plate decorated with champlevé laurel branches, in the upper part, an aperture for the balance spinning against a polished steel plate, in the lower part, eccentric white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and outer minute dot divisions. Double-sided pendant with the oval watch set within delicate filigree and whole pearls between two subsidiary double-faced oval painted enamel plaques, bezel set with split pearls, the back centred by a gold and champlevé enamel urn within a blue enamel reserve, the word 'SOUVENIR' written beneath it. Sprays of paillon leaves and flowers, as well as two doves and a dog -symbolising Love and Fidelity - surround the urn, which is also decorated with pearls. The four putti painted on the subsidiry oval plaques represent Hymenaeus, Ariadne, Psyche and Flora. D. The Sailor's WeddingPuy'Roche, attributed to Piguet & Capt, Geneva, circa 1805.Magnificent and extremely rare 18 ct. gold and enamel, pearl-set musical spyglass with concealed automaton scene and built-in watch, made for the Islamic market.

C. Fully operational spyglass with single draw tube with normal eyepiece and object lenses. The eyepiece has a zigzag pattern of engraved gold and polychrome opaque and translucent enamel. The top of the main cylinder has the same colours in a continuous foliate design. There is a row of pearls with two bands of azure blue both top and bottom. Four panels around the body have alternately, on a dark blue translucent ground, a vase of flowers and a pair of doves perched above musical instruments.hree of these panels rotate together and slide past the watch and beyond to reveal the automaton scene. This scene could be called 'The Sailor's Wedding'. There is a vari-coloured gold foreground consisting of a lighthouse and trees, and a painted enamel background of a ship at sunset with a cliff edge on which there is a simulated waterfall of twisted glass. Rotating through the middle ground there is a merry-go-round of painted silhouettes of sailing boats and two rowing boats, the second carring a wedding party, as well as a swan, all accompanied by music. Below the watch there is a polychrome enamel panel with military trophies, flags and an escutcheon bearing the Islamic crescent. D. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions with fifteen-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 3 o'clock. Blued-steel 'spade' hands. The music with pinned barrel and two stacks of polished steel tuned teeth, the automaton driven from the contrate teeth of the second, double wheel, the figures in the merry-go-round move by means of a set of spring-loaded levers, the last one acting on a ribbed semi-circle mounted underneath the opening so the automaton figures move only when passng in front of the scene.Signed on the dial, case stamped with illegible lozenge mark, possibly with 'C' at the top.Diam. 48 mm, length 90 mm. The AmphoraAttributable to Piguet & Capt, the enamel by the workshop of J-L. Richter, Geneva, circa 1805.Magnificent and extremely rare 18 ct. gold and enamel, pearl-set musical form watch with automaton scene, designed as an amphora.

C. The painted enamel panel below the watch covers a musical automaton scene. The oval watch has a central visible stone-set oscillating balance. The panel shows a mother with her child who is holding grapes, in the manner of Louise Vigée-Lebrun (1755-1842). It is hinged so that when a catch is released it rises forwards. A small push on one side of the amphora sets the music and automaton going. A little boy to the left raises and lowers a stick, trying to encourage a dog to jump it. To the rigt, also in vari-coloured gold, is a young lady playing a guitar. The painted background, through which the mechanism is wound, is of a classical urn upon a pedestal within a wooded landscape.Seven rows of graduated pearls run to the base which is decorated in polychrome champlevé enamel. The decoration is repeated on the reverse of the amphora, and the sides have foliate engraving, pearls and polychrome champlevé enamel, some of which is translucent. Graduated pearls decorate the back as well as the front of the handles. An oval painted enamel of a pair of nesting doves within a garland of flowers covers the watch movement. This opens onto the cuvette through which the mechanism isound and set. The panel in the centre below has a pastoral scene of a herdsman driving his cattle to drink beside a bridge, with a village and castle beyond. D. Oval, blue enamel plate with an aperture for viewing the four-arm polished steel diamond-set balance, beneath, the white enamel dial with Breguet numerals, above, subsidiary seconds dial. Blued-steel 'spade' hands. M. 14.3 x 27 mm, oval, full plate brass, fixed barrel, cylinder escapement, steel escapement wheel, silver four-arm balance.Music and automaton driven by a five-wheel train, the last pinion with a small two-wing fly as a regulator. Four concentric sliding cylinders, the outer one entirely enamel painted on gold, with alternating grey and imperial blue rhomboidal panels, the gray ones very finely painted with flower bouquets, the blue ones with flower wreaths and garlands suspended from the beaks of flying doves, the cross points with gold half pearl-set oak leaves, the inner cylinders polished gilt, the eyepiece set with pearls and engraved, the top with a watch hinged in a round, threaded case screwed over the lens, deorated with double rows of pearls, reeded edges and engraved base. 'Scentimental' DuelAttributed to Moulinié, Bautte & Cie, Geneva, circa 1806.Very fine and extremely rare pair of 18 ct. gold and enamel, pearl-set, combined watch and perfume sprinkler, in form of flintlock pistols, with original matching gold and enamel pistol-shaped winding keys, made for the Chinese market.

C. The grips of translucent scarlet enamel over flinqué grounds decorated with small gold rosettes on black champlevé enamel with gold flowers, the borders set with half pearls. Gold plates, finely chased with a dog on one side and a stag on the other, framed with half pearls. The barrels of cobalt blue translucent champlevé enamel over flinqué grounds, with a raised gold scroll design simulating damascene work. The perfume is released through the pistils of gold lotus flowers with enamelled petls, which are shot out of the barrel. The act of cocking the hammer winds the mechanism, also lowering the trigger. The watch is concealed in the end of the butt, the spring-loaded front and back covers with half pearl-set borders, decorated with flinqué rosettes and centred with half pearls. D. The Snuff BottleUnsigned, Geneva, circa 1810.Very fine and extremely rare 18 ct. gold and enamel pearl-set snuff bottle fitted with a watch, made for the Chinese market.

C. The bottle entirely enamelled in translucent emerald green over an engine-turned ground, with champlevé polychrome enamel strawberry flowers and fruits and gold foliage. A single row of pearls decorates the curved sides. On each side, within a pearl surround, there are oval paintings on enamel of fruit on one side and flowers on the other. The stopper with spoon, its base, neck and body in polychrome champlevé enamel, houses the watch with pearl-set bezel, the opening of the bottle decoratedith gold leaf rosette. D. C. Three-body, 'fermée' type, both covers hinged and spring-loaded, the double-sided cherub can be suspended from the brooch either way round. The front opens to reveal the dial, the back to reveal the movement. The cherubs' heads are painted on enamel, the front one with blond hair, the back one with dark hair, their wings are of engraved gold with blue champlevé enamel and set with graduated half pearls. The bow in the shape of a love knot decorated with matching enamel and half pearls. D.
