Notes

Giteau He was a pupil of Breguet. After his studies with the Master, he set up shop in Paris in the Galerie de Valois. He is known for making some very interesting and unusual pieces, such as an astronomical clock with orrery sold by Antiquorum on June 14, 2003, lot 80. The present watch was previously sold by Antiquorum, Hong Kong, June 6, 2004, Lot 384. For a note on granulation goldwork see previous lot.
