Notes

Note:The Certificate accompanying this lot will be completed immediately following the sale.
Contained in a polished burr walnut veneered casket, lined in paisley pattern fabric, with lockable drawer below containing a gilt magnifying glass, a calendar setting pin, a gold Breguet watch chain, and a polishing stick. Abraham-Louis Breguet conceived the idea for the Souscription in 1794, another of the " inventions" resulting from his period of forced exile in Switzerland during the French revolution. The concept was brillant and simple - to offer a watch to his clients that could be reserved in advance and delivered upon completion. To celebrate more than 200 years in the history of the firm, Montres Breguet created the Souscription set, of which the No. 1 is unique being the only example to be created in platinum and pink gold cases. The proceeds from the sale will go to the Breguet Foundation, established to encourage and advance the Art of Horology.
