C. Rectangular with iron front face and sicle doors, the left one painted with the figure of a monk, the right one with that of a Saint Lady. Then front face painted with the dials with the automaton face of a Saint at the top. D. Painted chapter ring with Gothic Roman numerals, centred with a sun-burst an a later revolving alarm setting dise, subsidiary small dial for quarters of hour. Single iron hand. The half lengths body of the automaton's head is painted above the dial. Driven by the balance wheel foliot, the automatons head opens and close the mouth. M. Iron posted frame movement with square pillars, verge escapement with heavy iron balance wheel foliot, linked via levers to the automaton mouth. Hours and quarters striking on two bells with locking plates. In very good condition, with some restorations. Dim. 41 x 15 x 16 cm.

Achille Brocot, 6 rue du Parc Royal, Paris, No. 4866, circa 1865. Very rare and important year going, moon phase astronomical hour and half hour striking dock with perpetual calendar and barometer, demonstrating the long duration system patented by Maurel on 24 November 1858.

C. Shaped black marble with barometer and perpetual calendar symmetrically disposed below the main dial. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet bands. Subsidiary enamel dial for the metallic barometer, the centre painted with a cloudy sky and for the perpetual calendar with moon phase aperture, days of the week, dates and months with the signs of the Zodiac. M. Brass full plate double train movement, the going and the striking train, both with four pairs of going barrels geared to each other according to the invention of Maurel and visible on the border of the dial. Brocot escapement, half second beating compensated pendulum, invented by Achille Brocot in March 1847, drawn from the Ellicot device, Brocot spring suspension. The perpetual calendar work is driven by the striking train. Signed on the dial, trade mark punched on the movement. In very good condition. Dim. 60 x 58 x 17,5 cm.
