C. Waisted case of oak, glazed on three sides, the gilt metal veneer with floral marquetry in tortoiseshell stained red and green and mother-of-pearl. Gilt bronze foliate bottom corner pieces extending into feet. Gilt metal framed glazed door with centre bottom applique of two putti flanking a sand-glass. The figure on the right, whose stomach is being pecked by a cock, holds a flaming torch and regards his companion who manipulates the sand-glass. Matching pediment and bracket. The pediment is surmounted by the figure of a child seated on a sphere and looking to the right. The bracket with gilt mounts in the form of exotic heads arising from fronds and foliage and with leaf and fruit tail-piece descending from a fronded base. D. Gilt bronze with Roman numerals on enamel cartouches. Blued steel Louis XIV hands. M. Rectangular with turned pillars, going barrels both for the going and the striking train, verge escapement, pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Not signed, French, circa 1870. Fine allegorical 8 day going, hour and hait hour striking Cartel in red tortoiseshell and Boulletype marquetry with gilt mounts and figures in the Louis XIV style.

C. With angled dished semi-circular sides resting on four lying horses mounted on the extremities of a lobed base. Symmetrical Boulle-type metal inlay to the faces of the case, base and pediment. The corners of the case are decorated with four caryatids in the form of oriental maidens representing the four seasons and there are four ewers placed in corresponding positions above them representing plenitude. The base of the glazed door carries an applied bronze representing Phæton in his chariot drawn by two horses above an exotic head flanked by swags. The pediment is surmounted by a winged figure of Father Time seated on a sphere and holding a scythe above an orientalised head perhaps representing Apollo. D. Gilt bronze with Roman numerals on white enamel cartouches. Blued steel Louis XIV hands. M. Rectangular with going barrels both for the going and the striking train, Brocot escapement, pendulum with Brocot suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Rectangular base with bowed sides carrying the patinated bronze ground on which beneath a lemon tree in green patinated bronze, a maiden exchanges entreaties and expostulations with a negro man kneeling before her. The scene is derived from an episode in the novel Paul et Virginie by Bernardin de St Pierre. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Gilt brass chased hands. M. Brass circular with going barrels both for the going and the striking train, anchor escapement, pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. C. Rectangular white-veined green marble base on 'bun' feer and with gilt brass 'tulip' frieze; rectangular gilt brass case set at the right hand end of the base with applied corner-pieces in the form of flaming torches resting on the backs of swans. The outer side of the case carnes an applied central winged figure holding trophies aloft in each hand. To the left of the clock Venus and Adonis bend towards a cup held towards them by a cupid kneeling on top of the movement beside a basin of water while from the inner side of the clock water founts from a lion's head into a pool below. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Gilt brass chased hands. M. Brass circular with going barrels both for the going and the striking train, anchor escapement, pendulum with silk suspension. Lenoir à Paris, French, Tate XlXth century. Fine and unusual reproduction of a musical gilt and natural bronze hour and half hour striking, ' Boar' clock from the XVIIlth century.

C. Shaped green-veneered rectangular base with ovoid sides, the front open and covered with a symmetrical, elongated-leaf swag framed, gilt grill over red silk, with central spreading bouquet; foliate corner mounts extended into feet. The back of the base decorated with an applied frame and bouquet echoing the design of the grill. Mounted on this base is a sculpted terrain, with vegetation, on which stands the naturalistically depicted boar facing to the left, with its head slightly inclined to the front and carrying the clock movement on its back. This is contained in a cylindrical gilt case encircled by a floral garland and surmounted by a seated child regarding a portrait drawn on a shield supported by his left hand, the right arm being held aloft in exclamation. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Gilt brass Louis XV hands. M. Brass circular, "mouvement de Paris" type with going barrels both for the going and the striking train, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Striking on a bell, with count wheel on the back plate. Good musical movement in the base with a 20 cm. cylinder and a comb of 79 vibrating steel blades. In very good condition. C. Base in the form of a white marble plinth with square gilt brass feet, central trophy, and arcaded bands. Bead frame to the inset top of the plinth, which carries a gilt brass case for the movement. D. In the form of a full length, standing, gilt brass female figure in antique dress set against a black enamel ground with polychrome enamel foliate tracery surrounding the figure; the hour and minutes are indicated by the arms of the figure against two sectors of arabic numerals placed on fan-shaped supports at each side of the case. The figure is framed by a free-standing arch with scrolled pillars and cockade decoration to the top of the arch and three pinacles are mounted on the case. M. Brass rectangular with going barrel, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. The hands of the automaton lady are driven by means of levers and cams on the back plate. In very good condition. Dim. 46 x 23 x 12 cm.
