The Wheat Sheaf. Geneva, circa 1820. Very fine 18K gold and painted on enamel, pearl- and diamond-set vinaigrette, designed as a sheaf of wheat.

Three-body, the lid finely painted on enamel with a sheaf of wheat, graduated pearl border, diamond-set belt,band in blue enamel with white enamel borders, base with translucent imperial blue enamel over a superbly engine-turned wheat sheaf, inside a scent compartment with pierced and engraved lid, containing what appears to be the original sponge.Dim. 38 x 45 mm.

The Neapolitan Mandolin. Piguet & Meylan, Geneva, No. 4899, circa 1820. Magnificent and extremely rare 18K gold and enamel pearl-set quarter-repeating musical automaton watch, in the form of a Neapolitan mandolin, playing every hour or on demand.

C. Two-body, covered with translucent scarlet enamel over fine flinqué with gold foliage on the soundboard, pearl-set sound-hole fitted with the watch dial, the back formed of 6 ribs in en suite enamel over a geometrical pattern, the front of the neck decorated with blue enamel frets, its head pink enamel with gold vase and gold stylized foliate decortion, gold knurled pegs, the front and the edge set with finely graduated split pearls on an applied gold frame.Gold twisted-rope strings, push-button at the edge of the soundboard to activate the music. Gold movement housing with gold and enamel hinged cuvette decorated with translucent imperial blue enamel flowers,with a music/silence lever. D. Two-body, "fermée" type, the stem and hooks in translucent imperial blue enamel with gold chain pattern set with pearls, the boss with six-pointed pearl star and a single central diamond overlaid in translucent imperial blue enamel over engine-turning, small gold tassel at the base, triple gold suspension chain with matching round chatelaine. Three-body, the handle with translucent imperial blue enamel with a crosshatch pattern, each segment centered by a gold paillon leaf, glazed center with opaque white enamel frame decorated with gold paillons, the applied diamond-set letters "Lequel" and two intertwined hearts on one side, and the diamond-set initials "LB" on the other, the top matching the handles, a pivoted magnifying glass concealed in the center with good-sized rose-cut diamonds on each end of the pivot, spring-loaded locking mechanism, sides with a white, blue, and black champlevé enamel pattern, gold suspension ring at the end of the handle.Punched with later French gold marks.Length 94 mm.

The Tulip. B & S, Geneva, circa 1810. Very fine and rare 18K gold and painted on enamel, pearl-set box in original fitted leather case.

Two-body, oval, the lid with a large, finely painted on enamel tulip with half pearl-set leaves, a pearl-set bud below, the whole on a brown enamel ground, the band with a geometrical pattern between two azure enamel lines, the base with sunburst engine-turning, azure band and geometrical pattern frame.Dim. 61 x 37 mm.

The Hunt. Attributed to Piguet & Capt, Geneva, case by "SN", made for the Chinese market, circa 1805. Magnificent and extremely rare 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set musical spyglass with concealed automaton scene and built-in watch, made for the Chinese market.

C. Fully operational spyglass with two concentric sliding cylinders, an eyepiece and lenses. The eyepiece and neck with a foliate pattern of blue, white and black champlevé enamel. The two cylinders are decorated with the same pattern of crosshatched azure and white enamel lines forming a geometrical pattern of black enamel and engraved gold rhomboids, the upper and lower edges set with half pearls. The inner cylinder can be rotated, revealing either the automaton or the watch. The automaton represents hunters on horseback revolving against an enameled panel depicting a house in the woods with an animated waterfall. D. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions with fifteen-minute Arabic markers. Gilt "cathedral" hands. M. 18.3 mm. (8 1/4'''), circular, gilt brass full plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, 3-arm brass balance, continental gilt cock, rack and pinion regulator with silver plate. Morning Walk. Attributed to Jaquet Droz, Geneva, circa 1790. Magnificent and highly important 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set center-seconds form clockwatch, designed as an amphora.

Two-body, the spring-loaded back with a finely painted on enamel scene depicting a young couple under a tree outside the walls of a castle, accompanied by their sheep and a dog, roses in a hat on the ground, background of translucent imperial blue enamel over flinqué with white enamel foliate lower edge and gold wavy side edges underlined with white enamel, the front the same, with the watch dial in place of the painting, pearl-set bezel, graduated pearl-set garlands at the top with split pearl rosette in the center, octagonal tapered base decorated with azure, black and white champlevé enamel forming a geometrical pattern, pearl-set neck, the top en suite, pendant and bow in azure, black, and white champlevé enamel, pendant with push-button for opening the back cover, gold knob in front below the dial for strike/silence. Gold movement housing, two-body, oval, the spring-loaded back entirely decorated with crosshatched pattern of azure, black and white enamel with gold pierced edgefor the sound, three winding apertures for going train, clockwatch and setting, pierced and engraved band. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic markers. Blued steel "spear" hands. M. The Rosebud. Geneva, goldsmith's mark "SN", circa 1830. Exceptionally fine and rare small 18K gold and painted on enamel diamond- and pearl-set musical box, in the shape of a rosebud.

C. Three-body, the front and base lids very finely painted on enamel with a pink rosebud behind evergreen branches, green leaves at its base, the front panel set with diamonds and graduated half pearls, the back with pearls, the inside finely painted with musical instruments, an opened musical score and a rose. Opening the front lid reveals a small compartment, opening the spring-loaded bottom lid reveals the musical mechanism. The band with champlevé enamels forms geometrical and foliate patterns. M. Oval, gilt brass, barillet type, standing barrel, seven tuned vibrating blades with shaped tips set in two stacks, fly governor set on the last train pinion.Punched with maker's mark inside the front compartment.Dim. 53 x 44 mm.
